Apple Watch front glass (Ion-X aluminium models or sapphire stainless / titanium models) is bonded to the OLED display as a single assembly. Glass-only repair is not possible — a cracked sapphire on Ultra means full display assembly replacement. Apple Watch is rated WR50 (Series 3 onwards) or IP6X / 100m for Ultra. That rating depends on six perimeter gaskets, the back-crystal gasket, and the Digital Crown shaft seal all being re-bonded with original-spec adhesive at the right pressure and cure time. Done quickly with the wrong adhesive grade, the water rating drops to splash-only and the next sweat session can kill the board. Apple Watch S-class chips (S6, S7, S8, S9, S10) and the SiP package are static-sensitive — handling without ESD-safe equipment risks killing the SoC during routine board removal. Apple Watch battery swap is a 2–4 hour bench job: opening the bonded display, removing the board with the cell still attached, swapping the cell, and re-bonding the chassis with adhesive cure time before re-sealing. Cell capacity is matched to the original SKU — under-spec replacements give you 70% of the runtime. We use matched-capacity cells, calibrate Battery Health after install, and test the water rating on Ultra/Series with full re-seal.
