Before you assume the port is broken

Three quick checks at home.

  1. Try a different cable. Cables are the failure point in 30–40% of "won't charge" cases — they look fine but the inner conductors have broken inside the strain-relief.
  2. Try a different wall plug. Cheap car / multi-port chargers fail silently. A laptop USB port or a known-good wall plug rules this out.
  3. Shine a light into the port. Pocket lint, food crumbs, sand — common on iPhone Lightning. If you see fluff, do not pick at it with metal; bring it in and we lint-clean for free.
