SE 1st gen (2020) uses an LTPO LCD display — not OLED — making it one of the few Watch models where the screen technology is meaningfully different from the Series line. The LCD panel ages differently: backlight separation and touch-layer delamination are failure modes OLED Watches don't show. SE 1 is now 5 years old, placing it firmly in battery replacement territory — cells at this age on daily-wear watches are typically below 70% capacity. SE 2nd gen (2022) switched to OLED and matches the Series 8 display technology (different assembly from SE 1; they are not interchangeable). SE 2 at 3 years old is now joining Series 8 in active battery replacement volume. Neither SE generation has always-on display, which means cell wear is slightly slower than equivalent Series. No blood-oxygen sensor on SE means the back crystal repair is simpler — optical heart rate only. No ECG on SE. Digital Crown on SE is the simpler non-haptic version — ingress still happens but presents as physical stiffness before electrical failure.
