Workshop-level, typically 2–4 hours, and AirPods Max need full disassembly for anything internal because they're built tight. For a dead or distorted ear cup we open that side and repair or replace the driver and its connection. A collapsed battery is replaced internally. A stuck or unresponsive Digital Crown is cleaned and, if needed, the crown assembly replaced. The ear cushions are the easy one — they're magnetic, so we can swap worn or torn cushions in minutes without opening anything. Condensation and ANC issues from the known moisture problem are dried out and cleaned, and we check the mics and sensors that drive noise cancellation. As with all sealed Apple audio gear, the careful part is opening and re-closing without damage, and we test both drivers, the crown, ANC and battery before returning them. We tell you upfront which repairs are quick and cheap (cushions, a clean) versus more involved (driver, battery, board) so you can decide.
