Common causes: dust blocking the earpiece or mic mesh, damaged speaker flex after a screen replacement done elsewhere, or a failed audio IC on the logic board. SPR starts with free diagnosis + ultrasonic cleaning; if parts are needed, they're OEM-grade and backed by a 6-month warranty.
Counter-level: 45–90 minutes typical. Free ultrasonic cleaning at every branch is the first stop for 'muffled' or 'one-side-quiet' cases — wax, dust, and pocket lint are the #1 cause and a cleaned mesh restores full audio in most cases at no charge. If the driver itself has failed (paper cone torn, voice coil damaged from water) we replace the speaker module and re-seal. iPhone has 3 microphones (bottom, rear-camera-bump, Face ID notch) which are independent — we test each one and replace just the failed module. Workshop-level: rare cases where the audio IC on the logic board has failed (post-water especially) move to Kepong HQ for component-level work. Not recoverable: extensive multi-IC water damage that has wiped out audio routing entirely is sometimes not cost-effective to repair vs replacement.

Different products, different repairs. iPhone has its own loudspeaker and earpiece on the device itself; AirPods are separate Bluetooth earphones. If iPhone audio is fine but one AirPod is dead, that's an AirPods repair (separate page on this site). If iPhone speaker is dead, this page is the right one.
Almost always the bottom microphone (the one closest to the Lightning / USB-C port). Free diagnosis tests all three iPhone mics individually; if the bottom one is failed, we replace just that module.
