iPhone Motherboard Repair.

iPhone completely dead and a battery swap didn't help, stuck in a boot loop, or DFU restore keeps failing with error 9, 4013, or 4014? Every motherboard case goes to our Kepong HQ workshop for microscope inspection and power-rail testing before any chip-level rework — 24 hours turnaround for most faults.

Board-level signs

Five signs your iPhone needs board-level repair.

These are the cases that go past a simple part swap and need chip-level diagnosis at Kepong HQ.

No cellular signal anywhereCellular signal is completely dead no matter where you go — points to a baseband IC failure rather than a SIM or carrier issue.

Motherboard repair is the diagnosis path for iPhones that don't respond to the easy fixes — a battery swap didn't bring it back, DFU restore through iTunes or Finder keeps failing with error 9, 4013, or 4014, or the phone charges but never turns on. Every case runs at our Kepong HQ workshop, where we inspect the board under microscope for corrosion, burn marks, or missing components, then measure each power rail with a multimeter to narrow the fault to a specific IC — Tristar/Hydra for no-charge faults, the audio IC for microphone or speaker failures, the touch IC for greyed-out touch, or the baseband IC for a dead cellular signal.

Motherboard Repair · what it looks like
  • iPhone won't turn on after a drop, fall, or impact — and a battery swap doesn't help.
  • Stuck on Apple logo / boot loop after iOS update or post-water exposure.
  • Recovery Mode loops endlessly — DFU restore via iTunes / Finder fails with errors 9, 4013, 4014.
  • Charges but doesn't turn on — Tristar / power management IC failure.
  • Cellular completely dead, no signal anywhere — baseband IC failure.
What we check first
  • Free counter-level check first: try a different battery, different charger, software-only DFU restore — rules out the easy stuff.
  • Visual under microscope: corrosion, burn marks, hot ICs, missing components from the board surface.
  • Power-rail diagnostic: measure each power rail with a multimeter — narrows to specific IC failure.
  • Identify which subsystem failed (no-boot, no-charge, no-signal, no-Face-ID) — different repair paths.
Repair path

Workshop-level only (Kepong HQ): every motherboard repair runs at our Kepong flagship workshop where we have hot-air rework stations, IR preheaters, microscopes, and the chip stock for component-level work. Standard faults we recover: Tristar / Hydra power IC reflow or replacement (no-charge faults), Audio IC reflow (microphone or speaker IC failure), Touch IC reflow (greyed-out touch), face-ID coprocessor work (Face ID dead), NAND data recovery (storage failure). Turnaround is 24–48 hours for most cases; some severe water-damage boards take 3–5 days. Not recoverable: extensive multi-IC water-damage boards, boards with burned PCB traces from short-circuit, or boards with damaged BGAs that cannot be reballed cleanly. We always tell you the realistic recovery odds during the free diagnosis before charging anything — and we offer data recovery onto a donor logic board when full repair is not viable.

Questions

Before you walk in.

Q.01What's the recovery rate on iPhone motherboard repair?

Depends entirely on the specific fault. Tristar / charge-IC reflow has a high recovery rate. Multi-IC water-damage boards are much lower. We don't quote a fixed percentage because every board is different — free diagnosis at any branch (we route the board to Kepong HQ for assessment) gives you the realistic odds before any charge.

Q.02Do you recover data from a dead iPhone?

Often yes. Even when the iPhone itself is unrecoverable for daily use, board-level data recovery can lift the storage chip onto a working donor logic board to extract photos, messages, and contacts. Free assessment first; we tell you what's likely possible before any work.

Q.03Why does iPhone motherboard repair take 24 hours minimum?

Diagnosis at the chip level (microscope inspection, power-rail testing, IC isolation) takes hours. Reflow and component-level repair runs in batches with proper IR preheating to avoid damaging neighbouring ICs. Rushing this work damages the board further. We give an honest turnaround estimate per case; some severe water-damage boards take 3–5 days.

Q.04Where can I get iphone motherboard repair near me in KL or Selangor?

SPR has 16 walk-in branches across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor — Kepong, Uptown Damansara, Puchong Kenari, Sri Petaling, Taman Segar, Setapak, Mahkota Cheras, Pandan Indah, Ampang, Mid Valley, IOI City Mall, Sungai Wang, Maluri, Equine Park, Taipan USJ, and Kuchai Lama. Walk into any branch — no appointment needed — or WhatsApp us a photo of your iPhone first to confirm parts at the branch nearest you.

Q.05How long does iphone motherboard repair take?

Typically 24 hr at any of our 16 branches. Walk in without an appointment, or WhatsApp us your model to confirm stock first.

Q.06Which iPhone models are covered?

All iPhone models: iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd gen), iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 series including all Pro, Pro Max, Plus, and Mini variants. Older iPhones (X, XR, XS, 8, 7, 6s) supported on a parts-availability basis at most branches.

Q.07What does iphone motherboard repair cost in Malaysia?

Cost depends on the iPhone model and the parts tier you choose. We don't post fixed prices because every case is different. WhatsApp us a photo of the damage and the model and we send a free quote within minutes. No charge for diagnosis if you walk in.

Q.08Is SPR an Apple Authorised Service Provider?

No — SPR is independent. We're not Apple, not an Apple Authorised Service Provider, and we don't claim to be. We've been repairing Apple devices for 17 years across 16 branches in KL and Selangor. If you specifically want Apple-genuine parts and an Apple-issued service record, your only option is Apple's own out-of-warranty service. If you want fast same-day independent repair with a 6-month warranty at independent shop pricing, that's us.

Q.09What warranty do I get?

Every motherboard repair at SPR comes with a 6-month warranty on parts and labour, honoured at all 16 branches across KL and Selangor — bring it to any SPR location for warranty work, not just the branch where the repair was done. Water-damage repairs carry a shorter warranty due to the unpredictable progression of corrosion.

Q.10What kind of replacement parts do you use?

OEM-grade parts as standard — manufactured to the same specifications as the originals. Premium-grade options are available on request for most models. We show you both tiers upfront so you can choose what fits. Apple does not sell parts to repair shops, so no independent shop in Malaysia can offer Apple-genuine parts; anyone claiming so is misleading.

Q.11Do you offer a free diagnosis?

Yes. Free diagnosis on walk-in at every branch. If we cannot repair your device, you pay nothing — no diagnostic fee, no consultation charge. Many fixes (lint cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning, software-only) cost nothing if that's all that's needed.
