Motherboard repair is the diagnosis path for iPhones that don't respond to the easy fixes — a battery swap didn't bring it back, DFU restore through iTunes or Finder keeps failing with error 9, 4013, or 4014, or the phone charges but never turns on. Every case runs at our Kepong HQ workshop, where we inspect the board under microscope for corrosion, burn marks, or missing components, then measure each power rail with a multimeter to narrow the fault to a specific IC — Tristar/Hydra for no-charge faults, the audio IC for microphone or speaker failures, the touch IC for greyed-out touch, or the baseband IC for a dead cellular signal.
Workshop-level only (Kepong HQ): every motherboard repair runs at our Kepong flagship workshop where we have hot-air rework stations, IR preheaters, microscopes, and the chip stock for component-level work. Standard faults we recover: Tristar / Hydra power IC reflow or replacement (no-charge faults), Audio IC reflow (microphone or speaker IC failure), Touch IC reflow (greyed-out touch), face-ID coprocessor work (Face ID dead), NAND data recovery (storage failure). Turnaround is 24–48 hours for most cases; some severe water-damage boards take 3–5 days. Not recoverable: extensive multi-IC water-damage boards, boards with burned PCB traces from short-circuit, or boards with damaged BGAs that cannot be reballed cleanly. We always tell you the realistic recovery odds during the free diagnosis before charging anything — and we offer data recovery onto a donor logic board when full repair is not viable.
