When to replace

Four signs of a green line issue.

If your display is showing any of these, the panel's driver IC is likely damaged and a full display replacement is needed.

Vertical green line
Vertical green lineOne or more solid bright-green vertical lines spanning the full height of the screen. Gets worse over days or weeks.

Vertical pink / purple line
Vertical pink / purple lineSame cause as green line but on a different colour channel. Replacement approach is identical.
3/4
Flickering columns of pixels
Flickering columns of pixelsColumns of pixels that flash or shimmer — early-stage driver IC failure. Usually progresses to solid lines.

Appears after drop or pressure
Appears after drop or pressureMost common trigger — the panel itself looks fine, but the hit dislodged the driver chip's solder bond.

Green line issues on iPhone OLED panels are caused by a damaged driver IC inside the display — a hit to the frame, water exposure, or heat stress can trigger it. The only fix is a full display assembly replacement; individual driver ICs are not serviceable at the panel level. SPR uses OEM-grade OLED assemblies with Dynamic Island / True Tone / LTPO preserved where possible, backed by a 6-month warranty.

Green Line · what it looks like
  • One or more thin vertical lines — usually green, sometimes pink, white or multicoloured — running top to bottom of the screen.
  • The line appeared right after a drop or sitting on the phone — physical stress on the OLED panel or its connector.
  • The line appeared on its own, or after an iOS update or a hot day — OLED panels can develop the fault spontaneously as they age.
  • The line flickers, changes width, or comes and goes when you flex or press the screen — a panel or connector that's failing intermittently.
  • Touch still works fine and the rest of the picture is normal — the line is a display-panel fault, not a touch or logic-board problem.
What we check first
  • Confirm it shows on every screen — lock screen, settings, a plain white image — to rule out a single app glitch.
  • Try a force-restart once — on the rare occasion the line is a software glitch it clears; if it stays, it's the panel.
  • Note whether it started after a drop or appeared on its own — both lead to a screen replacement, but it helps us check for other impact damage.
  • Check whether touch and Face ID still work — confirms the fault is isolated to the display panel.
Repair path

Counter-level, typically 30–60 minutes. A green (or coloured) line is a fault in the OLED panel itself or its driver connection — it isn't something a software update or a reset can fix, so the reliable repair is a full display assembly replacement. We fit a new screen, re-pair the components iOS checks (on iPhone 11 and newer we pair the display so True Tone and auto-brightness keep working and you don't get an 'Unknown Part' message), and colour-calibrate. If the line was caused by a drop we also check the frame and the display-connector seating, since impact that cracks a panel can disturb other flex cables. The whole job is done at the counter while you wait in most cases. Honest note: the line won't go away on its own and tends to get wider over time, so replacing the panel sooner avoids a single line becoming a half-dead screen.

Questions

Before you walk in.

Q.01Can a green line on my iPhone be fixed with a software update or reset?

Almost never. A force-restart is worth one try because on rare occasions the line is a software glitch, but a true green / coloured line is a hardware fault in the OLED panel or its connector, and no update or reset fixes that. The reliable repair is a display replacement. If anyone promises a software fix for a persistent line, be cautious.

Q.02My iPhone green line appeared on its own without dropping it — why?

It happens. OLED panels can develop a line spontaneously as they age, and it's often triggered by heat, a knock you didn't notice, or sometimes after an iOS update stresses the panel. The cause doesn't change the fix — a display replacement — but you don't need to have dropped it for this to happen, and it's a known issue across many phones.

Q.03Will True Tone and auto-brightness still work after a green-line screen replacement?

Yes — on iPhone 11 and newer we pair the new display to the phone, which keeps True Tone and auto-brightness working and avoids the 'Unknown Part / Display' message iOS shows on an unpaired screen. We pair every display replacement as standard and test it before returning the phone.

Q.04Where can I get iphone green line repair near me in KL or Selangor?

SPR has 16 walk-in branches across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor — Kepong, Uptown Damansara, Puchong Kenari, Sri Petaling, Taman Segar, Setapak, Mahkota Cheras, Pandan Indah, Ampang, Mid Valley, IOI City Mall, Sungai Wang, Maluri, Equine Park, Taipan USJ, and Kuchai Lama. Walk into any branch — no appointment needed — or WhatsApp us a photo of your iPhone first to confirm parts at the branch nearest you.

Q.05How long does iphone green line repair take?

Typically 30–60 min at any of our 16 branches. Walk in without an appointment, or WhatsApp us your model to confirm stock first.

Q.06Which iPhone models are covered?

All iPhone models: iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd gen), iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 series including all Pro, Pro Max, Plus, and Mini variants. Older iPhones (X, XR, XS, 8, 7, 6s) supported on a parts-availability basis at most branches.

Q.07What does iphone green line repair cost in Malaysia?

Cost depends on the iPhone model and the parts tier you choose. We don't post fixed prices because every case is different. WhatsApp us a photo of the damage and the model and we send a free quote within minutes. No charge for diagnosis if you walk in.

Q.08Is SPR an Apple Authorised Service Provider?

No — SPR is independent. We're not Apple, not an Apple Authorised Service Provider, and we don't claim to be. We've been repairing Apple devices for 17 years across 16 branches in KL and Selangor. If you specifically want Apple-genuine parts and an Apple-issued service record, your only option is Apple's own out-of-warranty service. If you want fast same-day independent repair with a 6-month warranty at independent shop pricing, that's us.

Q.09What warranty do I get?

Every green line at SPR comes with a 6-month warranty on parts and labour, honoured at all 16 branches across KL and Selangor — bring it to any SPR location for warranty work, not just the branch where the repair was done. Water-damage repairs carry a shorter warranty due to the unpredictable progression of corrosion.

Q.10What kind of replacement parts do you use?

OEM-grade parts as standard — manufactured to the same specifications as the originals. Premium-grade options are available on request for most models. We show you both tiers upfront so you can choose what fits. Apple does not sell parts to repair shops, so no independent shop in Malaysia can offer Apple-genuine parts; anyone claiming so is misleading.

Q.11Do you offer a free diagnosis?

Yes. Free diagnosis on walk-in at every branch. If we cannot repair your device, you pay nothing — no diagnostic fee, no consultation charge. Many fixes (lint cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning, software-only) cost nothing if that's all that's needed.
