What we replace

Notes

Try a different cable and a different wall plug first — sometimes the cable itself is the entire problem. We always check that free of charge before quoting any port work.

Charging works only if you push the cable up, down, or at a specific angle — and stops the moment you let go. The connector inside the port has worn out or bent; the cable's contact points are no longer touching reliably.

What we replace

Charging port flex with the connector — full assembly swap, not a partial repair.

Common on

Phones used while charging (gaming, navigation), where cable strain over years deforms the port pins.

Notes

This is one of the most common charging port repairs we do. Glue and ad-hoc fixes only delay the inevitable — the connector needs replacing properly.

Phone now takes 4–5 hours to charge fully when it used to take 1.5–2. Or fast charge / 25W / PD has stopped negotiating with chargers it used to work with. Could be a degraded port flex, a worn battery, or a damaged power IC — different fixes.

What we replace

Port flex and battery first — these are 80% of slow-charge cases. Board-level power IC work only if both are confirmed not the cause.

Common on

Phones charging slower year over year as both port and battery age together.

Notes

Free diagnosis — sometimes a software charge-protocol reset or a single component swap restores fast charging without replacing both.

Cable doesn't "click" into the port any more — feels loose, falls out if you wiggle the phone, or the contact point keeps shifting. Worn connector pins or a port that's been pulled out at an angle one too many times.

Common on

Phones over 18 months of daily charging; phones charged in cars where the cable gets yanked when getting out.

Notes

Lint cleaning sometimes restores grip on iPhone Lightning ports — we always try that first, free of charge, before quoting a flex replacement.

iOS shows a warning that liquid was detected in the connector and refuses to charge. The phone may have been wet (or just damp from humidity), or the port may have corroded since a previous water exposure. Even brief moisture can leave residue that the iPhone reads as "liquid present" for days.

What we replace

Cleaning first. If the port flex is corroded, full flex replacement.

Common on

iPhone XS onwards (the warning was added in iOS 13). Common after rain exposure, sweat, or condensation in air-conditioned-to-humid transitions.

Notes

Do not ignore the warning by overriding it — that risks shorting the charging IC. Bring the phone in dry, we'll diagnose and clean / replace as needed.

iPad Pro / Air / mini, Samsung Galaxy Tab S / A, Huawei MatePad, Xiaomi Pad, OPPO Pad — charging port issues on tablets are similar to phones but the larger form factor and stronger adhesive mean longer disassembly time.
