Where can I unlock my phone near me in KL or Selangor?+
SPR runs 16 walk-in branches across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor — Kepong, Uptown Damansara, Puchong Kenari, Sri Petaling, Taman Segar, Setapak, Mahkota Cheras, Pandan Indah, Ampang, Mid Valley, IOI City Mall, Sungai Wang, Maluri, Equine Park, Taipan USJ, and Kuchai Lama. No appointment needed for telco unlock — walk into the closest branch with the phone and the original box if you have it, or WhatsApp us the IMEI first so we can check unlock feasibility before you come in.
What does "SIM Not Supported" actually mean?+
It usually means one of three things — and they have different fixes. (1) The phone is carrier-locked to a different telco than the SIM you inserted (carrier unlock fixes it). (2) The IMEI is not registered on the MCMC database, common with overseas-bought phones (MCMC registration fixes it). (3) The IMEI was blacklisted by the original carrier for an unpaid bill or theft report (no unlock will fix this — you'd need to settle the original account). We run a free check first so you don't pay for the wrong fix.
Will an unlock void my warranty or damage the phone?+
No. Telco unlock is software-side or IMEI-database-side — we do not open the phone for any of the unlocks listed on this page. Your existing warranty (Apple, Samsung, brand) is unaffected. The unlock is permanent and survives factory resets, iOS / Android updates, and SIM swaps.
I bought my iPhone in the US / Hong Kong / Singapore — can you unlock it?+
Yes for most. Bring the IMEI (Settings → General → About, or dial *#06#) and we will check which carrier the iPhone is locked to. AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, EE, O2, SoftBank, au, M1, StarHub, SmarTone — all common. The unlock route and timing depends on the carrier. Some carriers unlock in under an hour, some take 3–7 days. We quote the timing before you commit.
How much does a telco unlock cost?+
Pricing depends on the model, the locking carrier, and the unlock route — an iPhone factory IMEI unlock and a Samsung code-based unlock are not the same job. WhatsApp us the IMEI and the carrier name (or the message your phone shows when you insert a new SIM) and we send a quote, free, in minutes. No fix, no charge — if the unlock fails for any reason, you don't pay.
What's the difference between a software unlock and a factory IMEI unlock?+
A software unlock patches the phone's software so it accepts any SIM, but it can be wiped by a factory reset or a major OS update. A factory IMEI unlock updates the carrier's database to mark your IMEI as unlocked — it survives resets, restores, and updates forever. We default to the IMEI route on iPhone wherever it's available, because it is the more permanent fix.
Can you unlock a second-hand phone I bought from Carousell / Mudah / Facebook Marketplace?+
Sometimes — but check the IMEI status first, free. If the previous owner has an unpaid telco contract on the phone, the IMEI is blacklisted and no unlock will restore service — you would need to pay off the original account. If the IMEI is clean and the phone is just carrier-locked, a normal unlock works. Bring the phone in and we'll pull the IMEI report on the spot.
My phone says "Invalid SIM" right after I came back from overseas — is it locked?+
More often it's an MCMC issue, not a telco lock. Phones bought outside Malaysia are not on the local IMEI database and the carrier rejects them on first SIM insertion. We push the IMEI registration through the carrier — usually 1–24 hours. Bring proof of purchase if you have it; not always required, but speeds the ticket up.
Do you also fix "SIM tray problem" or hardware-side SIM faults?+
Yes — that's a separate repair (SIM reader / SIM tray flex replacement) handled at the same workshops. Many "SIM Not Supported" complaints turn out to be a corroded SIM reader, not a carrier lock. Our free diagnosis tells you which one it is before any paid work is quoted. WhatsApp us a photo of the message your phone shows.
What warranty do I get on telco unlock?+
Permanent unlock — meaning it survives factory resets, OS updates, and SIM swaps for the life of the phone. If the unlock fails for any reason during our work (carrier rejection, server downtime, model not supported in the end), no charge. If a phone we successfully unlocked re-locks itself due to a carrier-side database revoke (extremely rare, but possible), bring it back and we re-run the unlock free.
